INDUSTRIAL CONTEMPORARY LUNCHROOM, HAMILTON.

When we began creating this space for a metal recycling company, we knew we were taking on a unique challenge. The company’s work is all about transformation and renewal, so we wanted our design to reflect those themes in a meaningful way. In collaboration with Baudit Interior Design, we set out to create a functional and inspiring space. Unlike our usual projects, which don’t often involve corporate spaces, this project presented a special opportunity.

To honour the essence of metal recycling, we incorporated design elements that subtly pay tribute to the industry. From sleek metal accents to innovative uses of recycled materials, each detail was chosen to reflect the company’s commitment to sustainability and transformation. The result is a space that not only serves as a functional break area but also celebrates the core values of the company in a stylish and engaging way.

Custom walnut and white cabinets in office lunchroom

The Details

This lunchroom is designed to be a haven of comfort and efficiency, perfectly suited for relaxing breaks and casual meetings. The focal points are two expansive walls adorned with custom cabinets and high-end appliances crafted to make daily work breaks smooth and enjoyable.

We opted for a blend of high table seating and cozy wall banquette seating, offering versatile options whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or holding an informal discussion. The high tables provide a modern touch and are perfect for quick meals or collaborative brainstorming. At the same time, the wall banquettes offer a more relaxed and intimate setting for deeper conversations or quiet moments.

The layout was meticulously planned to ensure an airy, cool vibe throughout the space. With ample open areas and strategic seating placement, the room maintains a sense of openness and flow, making it a refreshing retreat from the usual office environment.

The Materials

We incorporated metal frames around the custom cabinets to achieve a modern, industrial aesthetic. This enhanced durability and added a sleek, contemporary touch. The design features ample counter space and storage, ensuring practicality and efficiency for the workplace.

We balanced the robust industrial elements with a mix of materials that create visual interest and warmth. The rich, natural walnut wood contrasts beautifully with the crisp, white cabinets. The walnut introduces a warm, organic texture that complements the cool, sophisticated surface of the cabinets made using cutting-edge material composed of over 60% paper and 30-40% thermosetting resins. This combination of materials creates a harmonious blend of colour and texture, elevating the lunchroom’s overall aesthetic and ensuring it remains stylish and functional.
